Mystery Game - Title Reveal! š
Time to reveal the title of my work in progress mystery game...
Hey, Distant Dimensions here!
Today I have a very special announcementā¦ Itās time to reveal the title of my work in progress mystery game! In addition to that is a sneak-peak screen shot exclusive to this newsletter, so make sure to continue reading.
And without further ado:
What Was Found at Ravenhill
You play as a young detective who has been invited to investigate a mysterious case at the old English estate of Ravenhill. While you explore the mansion and its surroundings, uncover clues, solve puzzles & riddles, and question suspects in order to find out what was found at Ravenhill.
At the moment I donāt want to give away too much more of the plot, but Iāll be revealing a bit more in timeā¦ I also donāt want to totally spoil the game for you!
I will slowly be showing some of the scenes as well, and today Iām excited to show you this work in progress screen shot of the mansionās lounge, exclusive to this newsletter:
I have mentioned it before, but keep in mind this is a pre-rendered game, so this isnāt a modern real-time full 3D environment like you might see in most games these days.
Rather, itās a game in the classic point-and-click style. I choose to go with this style, firstly because I love classic first-person point-and-click adventure games, but also because my current laptop isnāt powerful enough to efficiently work on a real time environment.
However, I know lots of you are also fans of the point-and-click genre, so Iām not too worried about trying to reach a modern audience. I want to rather make a game that will be nostalgic (staying true to this classic style), while also making some more modern updates to areas such as the game UI.
Game assets
Even though Iām just one developer working on this game, I want to try and use as few existing assets as possible, and model most of the objects youāll see in the game from scratch. The reason for this is that I want the environment to feel coherent and include props that will be unique to this game.
I recently shared two of these hand modeled props from this lounge scene on social media. Here they are in case you missed them:
I plan to post another one soon, so be sure to keep an eye out for that on my social media accounts!
Well, thatās everything for now! Iām looking forward to sharing more in the future, And I hope youāve liked what youāve seen so far!
Until next time!
